Morecambe Bay has the largest
expanse of intertidal sands in Britain

Why not join one of our BeachCare groups and help look after our stunning coastline.
BeachCare improves the appearance of our coast and beaches and takes harmful waste away from our natural environment. We have groups of volunteers based around Morecambe Bay, who carry out regular litter picks on our beaches. We are also involved in raising awareness of marine litter issues, lobbying to improve the condition of the coast and campaigns to reduce the amount of litter at source.
Since 2003, over 6000 volunteers have worked with us removing more than 54 tonnes of litter from our beaches. Much of this is plastics. This makes a significant improvement to the appearance of our beaches and removes plastic that risks poisoning wildlife and polluting our seas. Find out more about how you can keep our beaches and bathing waters clean by checking out LOVEmyBEACH.

Morecambe Bay has won funding in an international competition to rid plastic from its shores. A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen!
