We met and heard from inspirational young people and peers joined in one mission - to create change and take action in blue spaces impacted by climate change.

“It was an incredible day, and I came away seeing just how powerful Youth Social Action work can be and with bags of enthusiasm and ideas for this project”

Lauren Munro-Bennet
Blue Mentor, Morecambe Bay Partnership

Lauren, our Blue Mentor for the Blue Influencers Scheme attended the conference in the Lake District.

Not too far from home, Lauren cycled there and back opting for a low carbon, active form of travel.

“The day was jam packed full of inspirational talks and workshops, in particular the amazing talks from Amy and Ella Meek who set up Kids Against Plastic, Phoebe who was an #iwill ambassador and Irys, Muhammed and Islay from the Youth Ocean Network from the Marine Conservation Society."

"It was a great opportunity to meet other Blue Mentors across the country to share ideas and challenges on how to deliver the scheme in their patch. It’s great to feel part of a wider network doing this powerful work. We also learnt about some really interesting themes from Dr Emma McKinley’s research at Cardiff University about nature connection to Blue Spaces. It was an incredible day, and I came away seeing just how powerful Youth Social Action work can be and with bags of enthusiasm and ideas for this project!”
