This Easter, people up and down the country will be preparing a delicious roast dinner for the family. And with lovely weather we’re having, is there a better way to celebrate the long weekend than by donning some wellies and heading beach for some fresh sea air and a chance to walk off those Easter eggs?

Ørsted latest round of grants to help protect the Bay's birds

Morecambe Bay Partnership is thrilled to be awarded a grant from Walney Extension Community Fund, which will enable us to do more for the Bay's amazing birds.

Morecambe Bay is in the UK's top 3 places for birds. Despite this, birds are seriously threatened, with numbers plummeting by 50% for many priority species. With this funding we will support communities to become Natural Ambassadors so they can protect oystercatchers, curlews, dunlin, knot and other birds at every day places around the Bay, making sure that their evocative calls continue be heard by all.

There’s no stretch of coastline like that of Morecambe Bay anywhere else in the UK, yet putting a finger on precisely the one thing that makes it so special seems impossible. Is it the light, the abundant wildlife, the stunning views or its deep history? It’s all of those things and more. Artists commissioned by Morecambe Bay Partnership to encapsulate the magic of the area have been challenged and blessed by the abundance of inspiration, whether the diverse natural history, the communities that are lucky enough to call the Bay home or the region’s rich social heritage.
