Butterfly Magic on Barrow Slag Banks- guided walk/exploration

Thursday 9th June 2022, 10:30 - 12:00

Explore this urban wildlife haven and the butterflies and wildlife that depend on it.

Barrow slag banks are home to the endangered small blue butterfly along with a whole host of other species and beautiful wildflowers.

Join BOOM Species Officer Ellie Kent to find out more about the precious small blue and the work that is taking place with community volunteers to save them. You can enjoy spectacular views too over Walney Island, Barrow and across the Duddon Estuary to Millom.

*Please note this event is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if the weather is unsuitable

Please wear sensible shoes or trainers for walking across uneven paths and landscape. Bring water, sun hats and suncream if it is hot and warm layers if it is chilly.

Car Parking & Meeting Point: There is some car parking at the lay-by (by McMunchies snack van, just off the A590). If it is full, you may need to park in nearby streets in Ormsgill and walk back. Please park considerately. We will be meeting by the snack van. Grid Ref: SD191711
