Clearing our coast #Thank you

With the easing of lockdown there’s a growing tide of new litter – the disposable mask. Disposable masks are now more common litter items than plastic bags.
After the plastic bag tax, it was drinks bottles that overtook bags as the most common litter item – and now sadly we find more disposable masks.
Susannah our Chief Executive spoke on the six oclock news on 18 Aug asking us all to reduce our use of single use plastics and dispose of them carefully. Cloth masks are more comfortable, you might need to try one or two to get one that suits but they are better for the environment and won’t become part of the persistent plastic pollution we find on our beaches.
Morecambe Bay has won funding in an international competition to rid plastic from its shores. A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen!
Morecambe Bay Partnership is asking dog walkers to help save the birds of the Bay by remembering to ‘Stop, Look and Listen for wildlife’ before letting dogs off the lead on the coast.
Will it be enough to win? We hear in a few days.
Your gift can clear up plastics and support our army of beach clean volunteers.
