Wildlife Taster Day: The Wonderful World of Waders

Discover more about the Bay's wading birds

Location: Walney Island (please note change to original location)

Treat yourself to an indulgent day outside with local bird expert Mike Douglas of South Lakes Ecology. On this walk and workshop, he’ll be showing us some of the breeding waders that we can see around the Bay and talking about their preferred habitats, habits and idiosyncrasies.

We’ll also get the chance to also explore the amazing breeding birds on Foulney and we’ll show you how to carry out a simple bird survey. Bring suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear for some good walking and a day in the outdoors, plus binoculars if you have some (we’ll be bringing some), lunch and plenty to drink.

Some refreshments will be provided.

Tickets: £10. The event is aimed at an adult audience. Pre-booking by 23 April is essential. Book your places here.

To avoid disturbance to the birds, unfortunately dogs are not permitted on this walk. Full details about meeting points etc will be sent to bookers prior to the event.
