Heritage Skills Day - Working Safely around Morecambe Bay

A fun morning with Bay Search and Rescue

Refresh your knowledge about the dangers of Morecambe Bay. Spend the morning with the fantastic team from Bay Search & Rescue to understand the risks to ensure you and your fellow volunteers stay safe. Learn about tides and local phenomena, wind effect, channel movement, quicksand and extraction.

There will be a short classroom session followed by an out-door practical session including a trip out on the Coastal Adventures Machine.


Please arrive around 8.30am for a 9am start at the BSAR base at the end of Moor Lane, Flookburgh.

Please come equipped with wellies and waterproofs, including waterproof trousers if you have them,as we may get a little dirty! 

Booking is essential as places are limited.

Come and help us clear some of the litter that washes ashore at South Walney Nature Reserve.

Meet at the Nature Reserve Car Park, postcode LA14 3YQ (grid reference SD 225 620) and remember to wrap up warm and wear sensible footwear.
