Seeking volunteer bird lovers!

Join us for a day to hear about the Natural Ambassadors project, how you can help and an overview of coastal bird ecology.

Are you passionate about the wintering birds of the Bay, and about inspiring and enthusing others about them?

Come along to meet us at this training session if you think you'd like to be a part of this project. We’re looking for friendly and approachable people who know a bit about coastal birds, and who are happy to share this knowledge and enthusiasm twice monthly at outdoor sessions on key roost sites around high tides on Walney or elsewhere around the Bay.

Workshop contents: Training on coastal bird identification and ecology will be provided as part of the workshop, as well as equipment and materials provided.  We’ll spend the morning indoors, learning about the project and our approach, with a session on the ecology of coastal birds to help get you warmed up. Then we’ll go out and about to look at a high tide roost and talk about the work.

Being a Natural Ambassador volunteer: You’d be joining our ever-expanding band of Natural Ambassadors who are raising awareness about the birds and how to avoid disturbing them. We have someone dedicated to helping, supporting and guiding volunteers, as well as our established Natural Ambassadors who are all very supportive of one another. Well behaved dogs are very welcome to accompany Natural Ambassadors when they are out and about (sorry, not for this training session though).!
