Archaeological Training - Roa Island

Join us and CITiZAN to record the remains of jetties and slipways and add to your archaeological recording skills!

When: Friday 13th and Saturday 14th October at 10am-4pm

Where: Roa Island, nr Barrow, venue TBC

Booking: FREE but booking is essential - Book HERE.

Come and join us and the CITiZAN North team at Roa Island, near Barrow-in-Furness, to add to your archaeological recording skills and record some jetties and slipways, which came to light during a CITiZAN workshop there in the summer.

Some of these archaeological remains are likely to be the remains of the slipway which was used to access Piel Island and part of Piel pier, which was used in the past to travel to Belfast and Douglas.

Please bring sensible and waterproof clothing and strudy footwear, wellies would be best. Please also bring a bottle of water and a packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.

The event is free but please book a place via Eventbrite.

Come and help us clear some of the litter that washes ashore at South Walney Nature Reserve.

Meet at the Nature Reserve Car Park, postcode LA14 3YQ (grid reference SD 225 620) and remember to wrap up warm and wear sensible footwear.
