Chris Lumb and John Pinder-
Morecambe Bay Conferences are a
great place to meet different people from different
organisations with different ideas - but all with one common
interest - Morecambe Bay
|
Bringing people together
The Morecambe Bay Partnership works to bring
people together for the good of the Bay.
We hold conferences and seminars so that the
different interests around the Bay can get to know one another and
work together.
We organise user group meetings to provide
information for sailors and other recreational groups. We
think that the Bay is big enough for us all to enjoy. We hope
to prevent conflicts or seek to find solutions where there are
concerns.
We are involved in education and information
projects - preparing newsletters,
maintaining this website and the Mermaid's Purse project. We
promote adopt-a-beach and beach clean-up programmes. And we
encourage local people to get involved in activities
around the Bay all year round.
We are actively involved in regional initiatives
for the NW coast - including the work of PISCES, the NW Coastal
Forum and the NW Bathing Waters Forum.
We provide a framework for co-ordination among the
many interests and organisations around the Bay.
The Morecambe Bay Strategy
Our work grew out of the Morecambe Bay Strategy.
This initial work, funded by English Nature, began in 1993 with
public meetings and questionnaires looking at issues.
During 1995, a series of working groups involving
over 120 people were established to recommend solutions to issues.
From their reports came the Morecambe Bay Strategy, published in
October 1996.
