Beware slips & sharps; stay together. Think about safety - be aware.     Our events are meant to be fun.  Do not put yourself in any danger.    Slips and falls Take care on uneven or slippery ground.  Don’t go on steep slopes or into areas that might have sinking sands.    Sharps Take care when picking up sharp or jagged items.  Use gloves and/or litter picking tongs to pick up any sharp or corrosive items.

Broken glass should be put into a bucket, it may tear a bin bag. 

If you find sharps (such as fishing hooks/syringes with needles) DO NOT handle them yourself but call over the nominated sharps handler who will put into the sharps box.  (Or mark the location and go to seek the sharps handler.)

Stay together

Don’t wander away from the group.  Don’t leave without saying that you have gone.  We might not know where you are.

Road safety

Drive and park sensibly and safely.  Be aware of traffic when moving around. Don’t block access with your vehicle. 

Don’t

Don’t pick up seaweed, drift wood, feathers or other natural items.

Don’t try to lift anything that is too heavy, ask for help or leave it.

Don’t pick up dog mess, faeces.  Don’t pick up anything that you are unsure about, e.g. decomposing canisters.  Leave them and seek advice.

Do

Do collect plastic, rope, cord, net, cotton bud sticks, caps, lids, polystyrene, crisp/sweet/lolly wrappers, cigarette stubs. 

We report sewage related debris (tampons & condoms).  So please let us know

what & how much you have collected. 

We recycle glass, foil, plastic bottles, cans.  These go into a separate bag.

Please wash your hands before eating or drinking.
