Over 150 people were
present at the Coronation Hall to hear more about the
closure of the cockle beds and what role the
different agencies have played in regards to
cockling.
If you'd like a copy
of the speakers' presentations, we can print these
off as handouts, but we request a £10.00 donation
to cover the administration and postage.
Please make cheques payable to Morecambe Bay
Partnership and sent these with your details to 32

Questions
There
were a huge number of questions raised
including:
How long will the cockling
closure last?
Who is responsible for
removing abandoned vehicles?
What is the impact on
wading birds and wildfowl?
Will there be any
compensation for fishermen who can no longer
work the cockle beds?
Could movement orders be
used to manage the cockling better?
Why isn't riddling
enforced?
Has anyone been prosecuted
for taking undersized cockles
What will be the
implications of the proposed new radio nuclides
legislation?
