Allonby Bay Beach Clean

Come and help volunteers protect the Allonby Bay Marine Conservation Zone from beach rubbish.  The Bay is valued for its reefs and mussel beds.  We’ll be working with Allonby Parish Council to clear the beach and dunes in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Meet/park:  Meet in Allonby’s free southern car park beside the B5300 coast road and opposite the large church.

All equipment provided but wellies and waterproofs advisable.

The Evolution of the Lancaster Port Commission

A talk by Port Chief Executive Helen Loxam at Lancaster Maritime Museum

Far from being just part of Lancaster’s history, the Port of Lancaster is alive and well, and currently residing in Glasson Dock. This talk, by Helen Loxam, Chief Executive, gives some insight into the Lancaster Port Commission’s duties, responsibilities, constraints and challenges, and how they have changed, and indeed not changed, since its establishment in 1750.
