Salt, Sand and Coastal Trade : Morecambe Bay in the Seventeenth Century Bay...

A special morning discovering the fascinating world of probate records with historian Jonathan Cass. He will reveal what probate records can tell us about life around Morecambe Bay in the seventeenth century and uncover new information about the mysterious salt industries. Archivist Vicci McCann will then lead a tour of the Lancashire Archives. The events are free but booking is required for the talk and the tour. Optional extra drop in workshop with Jonathan to explore the original documents after the tour. This event is part of the 2017 Festival of Archaeology

Build Barrow's Skyline out of Lego

Celebrating the 2017 Festival of Archaeology. Recreate Barrow and the Bay's landmarks in lego

Location: Dock Museum, Barrow-in-Furness

2017 Festival of Archaeology event. Back by popular demand at the Dock Museum, your chance to build the historic buildings of Barrow and Morecambe Bay out of Lego in this special workshop led by Youthability. Free but booking required. Children must be accompanied by an adult (please book tickets for children and attending adults as there is a limited room capacity)

 

Two workshops available 11am - 12.30pm OR 2pm-3.30pm. Booking essential.

Bite-sized Archaeology at The Dock Museum, Barrow

Celebrating the 2017 Festival of Archaeology

Do you want to try your hand at the skills you need to be an archaeologist? Morecambe Bay Partnership is celebrating the 2017 Festival of British Archaeology with a fun range of taster activities at Barrow’s Dock Museum on Wed 26 July. Drop in from 11am-3.30pm to excavate our dig boxes and explore Morecambe Bay-themed historic maps, aerial photographs and other vital resources with the help of our very own archaeologist Louise Martin.
